Should I buy an Inflatable SUP?

Inflatable stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) are becoming increasingly popular, thanks to their convenience and portability. But should you buy one? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of buying an inflatable SUP to help you make your decision.

One of the biggest advantages of an inflatable SUP is that it offers fantastic value for money. As well as being cheaper than rigid boards, most models come with accessories such as pumps, paddles and leashes, making them great for those on a budget looking to get into the sport. Inflatable SUPs are also incredibly lightweight, which makes them easy to carry and transport – perfect if you need to take your board away with you on holiday or need to walk long distances before hitting the water.

In terms of performance, inflatables aren’t too far behind either. High quality models nowadays are designed with reinforced fabric backing that makes them tough and durable while still offering agility on the water – so don’t be afraid to push yourself and try out some tricks as you go.

On the flip side, there are also some downsides to consider with an inflatable SUP. Firstly, these boards will take longer to set up than rigid ones, which can be inconvenient when faced with limited time on the water. In addition, although inflatables are much more portable than solid SUPs they can still be large and bulky when packed away in a bag – so make sure you have enough space in your vehicle or storage area before making a purchase.

Ultimately though whether you should buy an inflatable SUP comes down to personal preference – if portability is important then it’s definitely worth considering one over its rigid counterpart. And by doing your research beforehand you can make sure that it meets all your needs when it comes time for hitting the waves.
