The Caribbean coastline of Mexico is renowned for its drift diving. These diving sites are home to an abundance of marine life. You can see barracudas, jacks, tuna, and more. Non-divers can also take a snorkeling excursion and enjoy the underwater landscape.
Mexico is also home to several species of sharks. For experienced divers, the Revillagigedo Islands are a top dive destination. The four islands are home to friendly giant manta rays, as well as a variety of sharks.

Socorro Islands, also called the Revillagigedo Islands, are located in the Sea of Cortez near Cabo San Lucas. The islands are considered an excellent liveaboard destination, but are not widely accessible on land-based resorts.
Xcalak Reef Reserve is the second largest barrier reef in the world, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Diving in Xcalak is strictly controlled, and requires advance booking. This area is home to mangrove forests and a variety of marine life.
Mexico’s west coast is also home to the Banco Chinchorro, a 25-mile long marine reserve. You can reach this area on day trips from Xcalak. Banco Chinchorro is also home to whale sharks.
